A Musical Sonnet

by Silvia Francesca Maglione

To my Father

Listen to that charming tune in your mind.
It’s constantly there, omnipresent Dream.
A gracious melody you want to find
To sing forever a deep music stream.

I can’t hear it, but feel it with my soul.
The sweet piano notes echoing the ear
Are signs of emotions hard to control
Of a musical Passion very near.

But yet, sometimes it obscures ‘to a blur,
And the melody is lost in no time.
Irksome sounds I then hear, yet I’d prefer
Hearing once more those notes of the Sublime.

Delicately they recommence singing
And my dream perpetrates, never changing.

-Silvia
