Ode to Johann Sebastian Bach
by Silvia Francesca Maglione
Oh Eternal Bach, omniscient presence in our heart –
Listening to his music is the most celestial experience on Earth.
‘Tis a wondrous feeling of immortality in a sinful world.
It’s the impression that anything can change for better when enchanted by those angelical notes. It’s the alleviating relief of lonely hours, and the delighting mitigation of feverish moments. Our souls are eternally bonded with and within his music. They will never, nor could they, be broken asunder. Problems fade away and hope emerges from the shadows. They’re pure sounds descended directly from the heavens above, and simply by closing one’s eyes, your mind will magically be dancing along with the divine notes.
Why is it so? For what reason his ethereal music envelops our hearts? Answers are sought in algebraic variables, algorithms, counterpoint, patterned numbers and science. But yet, the sole truth I found sings its majestic virtue unaided. It’s embedded in the purity of his very music. It’s found deep in the feelings it arouses, in the memories it wakes. It’s in the gleaming eyes and glistening spirit of each listener when Feeling his music. It is here for everyone, and never will it cease to be.
Oh Eternal Bach, omniscient presence in our heart!

Music is perhaps the most valuable gift that humanity has ever given to itself and J.S.B. is one of the greatest bringers of such gift to us common mortals.
Through us, He is indeed eternal. Through our ears and our hearts good music never stops playing. | Posted by EugeneOrmandy on November 16th, 2006 @ 4:58 pm GMT |
